Guildy

Original Watercolour painting by artist Sharon Peterkin

Lovingly custom-painted in Daniel Smith Watercolours on paper, ‘Guildy’ is Sharon’s representation of the Guilderton township from the Moore River. I commissioned Sharon to do this perspective as everything I’ve ever seen of Guildy is of the river and ocean and not the picturesque town-site which reminds me of a song from my childhood ‘Little Boxes on the Hillside’.

Garden Party

Print on linen paper by artist Sharon Peterkin

High quality print lovingly and hand finished with gorgeous metallic shimmer Daniel Smith watercolours & gold leaf. I chose this print of course for the colours, but also when we were here every spare moment rennovating, I saw many of groups of women on walks around Guildy who all seemed to be enjoying girls’ weekends and little time away from every day life. This picture reminds me of that.

Kalbarri

Original oil on canvas by artist Paul Lucas

Although originally from the Geraldton area, Paul was having a bit of a clean out in 2020 and offered this painting up for sale on his facebook page. Graham knew the location immediately as he’d spent a lot of his time there on holidays as a kid as his family had a beach house in Kalbarri.

Guildy Abstract

Original Watercolour on paper by artist Sharon Peterkin

Painted to match our dusky pink room, the reason so many of us love vessels is they can depict a woman’s body and the womb. Who knew right? Look closely at the shimmery metallic Daniel Smith Watercolour paints.

Sculptures

Original sculptures by Melbourne Artist Mandy McCarthy

About 25 years ago I purchased these original pieces from our dear friend Mandy. We would visit Melbs regularly for gift fairs and we also had retail stores in Elsternwick and Moonee Ponds. I met Mandy through my sister Sharon and fell in love with her relaxed and quirky style. I saved these pieces (including the bather girls toilet roll holder) for the beach house we would one day own…

Vase Wall Plaque

Mixed media art piece by Artist Sharon Peterkin

When I saw these in Sharon’s studio, I fell in love and had to have one for Moore to Sea. Born from her love of mid century ceramics and design, each one is unique. With a plaster base with flowers made with beads, fabrice, thread an wire. If you love my vase plaque, you can purchase your own unique vase from SharonPeterkin.com.au

Peytil Trio

Prints on paper

I love the minimilistic nature of Peytil’s art. Loving the spontaneous expression of a simple black line, Eitil ‘s (artist) work draws from his many years working in the fashion industry. I chose these for the Terracotta room as I wanted to create a space that appeals to both the feminine and masculine side of us all.

Mermaid

Original oil on wood by artist Sharon Peterkin

Mermaids have always been associated with the ocean and although this painting has hung on my office wall for many years, I always knew if we ever managed to have a beach house she would go there. She’s how I picture mermaids to be – with a luxurious, flowing tail and no bather tops!

Bather Girl Wall Plaque

Hand-painted 3d clay mould by artist Sharon Peterkin

Don’t you love her spotty kini??? For a short time Sharon created these gorgeous wall plaques and I was lucky enough to get one! Another special piece I’ve saved up for our ‘some day beach house’.

Eh Holden On The Beach

Giclée archival ink digital print on canvas

I wanted something that represented everything about Moore to Sea’s origins. Being built in the 50’s and 60’s she’s pretty retro. And nothing says more Aussie retro than a bunch of beach-goers hanging out with an EH Holden. I purchased this print from retroprintmerchants.com.au.

Longboard Surfers

Giclée archival ink digital print on canvas

Keeping with the 50’s retro beach theme to match the original Moore to Sea house, I chose this print because it reminds me of me and my friends – except we’d be holding wine glasses! I do wish we had a set of long boards under the house we could have a go with. Wouldn’t that be a day worthy of recording for laughs!

Purchased from retroprintmerchants.com.au.

Africa

Pen & watercolour print on paper by Lucy M Wiles

A South African ‘native study’ artist 1920-2008. Lucy’s work was on Xhosa people in the Transkei. She spent a lot of time on river beds, villages and trading stores while doing her portraits. A friend gave me this painting many year ago and I’ve always loved the vibrant colours and the annimation of the subjects.

Steel Drawings

Original steel drawings by artist Lee Potter

Such a talented steel artist, I commissioned Lee to do a steel drawing inspired by the Peytil drawings in the Terracotta room. He created two for me to choose from and I couldn’t live without both! I really love the copper lashes! Lee’s incredible work can be seen on Instagram @leepotterartist

Bather Girl Wall Tile

Original wall tile by artist Sharon Peterkin

If you want one of Sharon’s tiles, you need to beg her (which I did). Although a right P.I.T.A. to paint (think two-pack glossy finish), they’re just perfect for bathrooms. Note she’s incorporated not only the bedroom colours, but the darker green bathroom towels too. Thanks Sharon xxx
